A new blog to post about a new skill I learned this weekend. How fitting! This past weekend, I took a drop spindle class at
London Wul. It was the most amazing experience to be able to create my own yarn from fibers.
We learned to spin some carded and some combed fibers using a high whorl spindle. I was so excited to bring home all the goodies I got in this class:
- the tiny ball of 2 ply yarn I created
- my new ashford drop spindle
- some combed polwarth
- some carded jacob(?)
- my drop spindle 101 workbook
And I enjoyed the class so much that I bought myself 1/4 lb of Hand Dyed Polwarth. I can't wait to start spinning it!

Hi Line - It was great to meet you at the class this weekend! I haven't picked my spindle up again yet but am looking forward to a little spinning this coming weekend. Congrats on finally joining us in blogland - I think I'm your very first comment - woohoo!
Whoohoo! Your first blog entry AND your spinning. Can't wait to see more of your projects in blogland!
Imagine my surprise seeing you online. I was sure you said on Saturday that you didn't have a blog. Well this is grand! I have been spinning a little bit each day in hopes of improving enough to feel comfortable at the Wheel
Spinning class on Feb 25 at Heidi's. It was great to meet you and everyone else on Saturday - who am I? I am the oldest one in the class. Welcome to blog land Line.
